I know that the ancient greeks where an inventive people, but I must say I am surprised by their willingness to employ british machine guns in their armies. ;) (aka, I THINK that entry might be misplaced.)

But sadly it is indeed in the wrong place ... much as I'd like to be able to boost my armies firepower :-(

To be fair they turn up in the WW2 British section too.

They might have had PIATs. Archimedes did, after all, invent weapons to defend Syracuse against the Roman fleet. Perhaps the British found ancient manuscripts by Archimedes and re-invented the PIAT during WWII.
