Hello all !

As you know or not, The Emperor prepares the reconstruction of the battle of Loigny which took place on December 2, 1870! And His Majesty wishes to realize this one in December 2020 for the 150th anniversary.
So 3 years to paint the 2,000 figures received this week!
Regularly We will inform you about this thread of the progress of Our Imperial Project and especially the painting of all these beautiful Baccus figurines!
Thanks Peter!

You can now see the open box ! ;-)

And in a few days you will see the first figurines We have already painted, so excited We was to start... but in a few days !

This looks absolutely fascinating and I shall be following this with great interest. I have just embarked on preparing Villers-Bretonneux as a project using the data in Bruce Weigle's 1871 rules. As a small battle this operates as one base = one company/half squadron/half battery.

Thanks for your interest Dourpuritan ! :-)

While working on our Imperial Project, we discover this Franco-Prussian war that We knew little, apart from the bloody episode of the Paris Commune.
And thanks to you We have been able to learn more and especially about this battle which took place 5 days before that which We reconstitute. For the Bruce rule We don't know it before too ! In fact... We don't know lot of thing ! :-)

We have allreay paint Our Favorite Unit... "les zouaves pontificaux" and the french "Quartier Général" that We made with the great war reference ! This is Our First 6mm unit painting... so all comments will be welcome since We will publish pictures on Our Project Blog !

Some day to wait... before open fire ! :-)

Excellent conversion of the Great War HQ base. Bruce Weigle has produced four sets of mid-C19th rules. They are:

1859 - covering the Franco-Austrian War and also the 1864 Danish War

1866 - covering all fronts of the Austro-Prussian War

1870- covering the Imperial and Republican phases of the Franco-Prussian War

1871- covers mainly other republican battles in 1870 and 1871

The first three books contain not only rules but also a large number of scenarios in various scales, as well as masses of information on army organisation and formations plus extensive bibliographies, and are thus extremely useful reference volumes. The fourth book does not contain as much reference material, although there are twelve more FPW scenarios (1870 has Loigny Poupry, whereas 1871 has both Villepion and Poupry as two scenarios). The main point of 1871 is that it is a revision of the original rules making them smoother, more straightforward and faster to play.

You may also be interested in Chris Pringle's rules, Bloody Big Battles, designed for the largest C19th battles. The rule book includes 9 FPW scenarios, including Loigny Poupry.

All the above books can be obtained from Caliver Books in the UK.

Bonjour, mon empereur! Since Andy the dour puritan has mentioned the BBB FPW campaign, let me mention this website:

http://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/la-guerre-est-finie.html

It's the consolidated photo-reports of the entire campaign, as fought by the Corlears Hook Fencibles (a group of wargamers in New York) over the course of a year.
