Excuse Our Imperial Ignorance ... But after the first effect passed ... the effect of Christmas presents unpacking! We reviewed our Imperial Troops with more acuity and ... We were surprised to see that the Franco-Prussian war republican troops have no standard bearer!
it is surely historical ... it can not be otherwise! Peter is watching over it! But why?

After the fall of the Second Empire the new government had the majority of Eagles destroyed as they were a symbol of the old regime which was now hated by the new government. The new government however, gave no clear indication as to what standards should be used. Provisional regiments were formed from the 4th battalions of three diferent regiments and so had no entitlement to carry standards. Small fanions of variuos designs and colours were carried though.

French text?... uh... about the Franco-Prussian War?... what did you expect!... maybe German?... lol... a great war and one of the preventive one's... or so Otto did say... Great uniforms and poor tactics (at least for the French)... one of my favourite periods even if I do not indulge (yet) in it. Great posts by the way. After much thought any tricolor will do... I can not imagine any kind of group of French soldiers without one... Baccus Napoleonic has a lot of the tricouleurs... I surely would use one.
