TOPIC: Gap Filler Muddy Ploughed Fields! |
Standard User Posts: 24 Captain Darling 23rd Jun 2015 11:17:12 Hi All, On realising the towering crops I have previously used in my ACW Olustee scenario were out of season I needed to make up some muddy ploughed fields to replace them thereby fitting in with the northern hemisphere's crop cycles! First up spread some gap filler on grease proof paper, I require 16 10cm x 10cm blocks... Next smooth out the gap filler... Then add in some plough trenches (a bit overscale but they'll suffice)... Add some sand for texture, paint it a muddy sort of colour with a highlight and add some sprouting grain... Finally get some 6mm Napoleonic Russians to tramp across it... Including preparation, 'forming' and painting less it took well under three hours to complete and cost under $10 Australian to do all 16 10cm x 10cm panels I needed plus they'll be useful in the future... Just cut it to the shape required then affix it to your chosen base material, and put a bit of flock or static grass etc around the edges. You can get courdroy with quite fine lines which tend to suit 6mm. In terms of price, I got a meter by about 60cm for a few quid from the local market, you can get shed loads of fields out of this and indeed can split this between a few mates to make it even cheaper. apologies for lack of pictures |
