We are looking for a new project and never played AWI... so We need some help to choose the figures! We bought Ruse de Guerre (french name! :-) ) and select the Battle of Freeman's farm... so first question : is this battle a good choice ? Second question : What reference to choose for all these regiments ? Thanks for help ! :-) L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Look at https://www.perry-miniatures.com/pages.php?page=continental-militia-forces-in-sa https://www.perry-miniatures.com/pages.php?page=british-saratoga-campaign https://www.perry-miniatures.com/pages.php?page=german-saratoga-campaign They are all very current and well reserched, Is the battle a good choice? Well both forces were a good mix of troop types and uniforms. The links above all come from a well know 28mm figure range (sorry Peter) website, but are very transferable to 6mm.

Standard User Posts: 404 Glenn Pearce 7th Aug 2019 08:25:43 Hello LEmpereur! I think Freeman's Farm is an excellent choice. As mentioned by Baron Clenawly there is a good mix of troop types and uniforms. All can be supplied by Baccus. The battle itself can unfold in a number of ways, depending on what course of action the players take. I've played the battle at least three times and everyone was exciting right down to the last turn. Please keep us posted on how you move your project along. Best regards, Glenn

Thank Glenn for confirming this good choice! :-) Of course We will post about this project that is just starting... We have to finish the 1870 Loigny battle one's before ! Standard User Posts: 404 Glenn Pearce 17th Aug 2019 02:35:07 Hello LEmpereur! Yes the "Bases" column is the total number of bases used. So Morgan's Rifles has 3 Bases. Page seven shows what most of the letters represent P = Poorly Trained, T= Trained, W= Well Trained. S is not shown but it represents Skirmishers, a base of 4-8 figures. So yes Morgan's Rifles has 3 bases of (WS) Well Trained Skirmishers all 4-8 figures. Yes, the 1st New Hampshire has 2 bases of (T) Trained, both with 24 figures and no Skirmishers. No, the 2nd Massachusetts has 3 bases of (T) Trained, 2 are 24 figures and 1 is Skirmisher with 4-8 figures. The 1st Canadian has 3 bases of (W) Well trained, 2 are 24 figures and 1 is Skirmisher with 4-8 figures. The rating column reflects the rating of the commander and his inherent TP (Tempo Points). See page 13. Hope this clears it up for you. If not please let me know and if you have any other questions just ask. Best regards, Glenn

Hello all! We are moving on to Our Project and here are the last questions ... let's hope so! So for the battle Freeman's Farm :

Should you decide to pursue this project beyond Freeman's Farm I would reccomend 'A Devil of a Whipping - the Battle of Cowpens' by Lawrence E Babits. It has a comprehensive breakdown of the forces involved, the formations adopted (with diagrams) and detailed maps which follow the course of the battle as it unfolded. A little goes a long way |
