TOPIC: SYW Prussian Artillery |
Standard User Posts: 2 Generalgroats 6th Jul 2020 02:38:55 As a lockdown project I decided to paint a SYW army pack that I had picked up at Salute a few years ago. Having never paiinted 6mm and being one of the "I could never paint anything so small" brigade I was surprised to find that everything that 6mm players/painters said was true. It was far easier than I ever suspected. So it was a no brainer, once I had painted the army pack (much quicker than I could have painted the same number of stands in any other scale that I have tried) I ordered 2 more army packs and some bits and pieces in the last window of opportunity. The figures are lovely and flash free, but I was surprised to see that the artillery appears to have shrunk. Is that deliberate, or is there an error in either the initial army pack or the recent castings? TBH I bought some irregular artillery to bulk out the number of guns and they are of a size of the new castings, however I did like the old castings and the website pic for SYW Prussian artillery looks to be the old ones too. Any thoughts or comments? Cheers John

Standard User Posts: 2 Generalgroats 7th Jul 2020 09:39:48 Thanks lekw, that could explain it. Checking the descriptions it says "field guns" in the army pack whereas the regular artillery refers to "Cannon". Maybe the previous Army pack I picked up some years ago had the bigger guns, I'll order the regular artillery at the next cart opening and see. Appreciate the input :) J |

Administrator Posts: 897 peter 13th Jul 2020 08:19:07 The guns supplied with the standard army packs are the small 'battalion' pieces. I'll be the first to admit that the range of options on SYW artillery pieces needs expanding. Another post-covid admin job to sort out!
I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |
