Best regards, Jean |
Get more standard bearers and use two flags per brigade.... this is easy.... I did.... the packs can be used for both armies.... also if you ask gently Peter he will provide extra one's.... you can buy more from Rapier too quite compatible.... so no problem at all. |
Battle flags varied between the eastern and western theatres. The ANV battle flag did not become the standard for the whole ANV until well into 1863. The army of Tenessee adopted a rectangular battle flag in 1864 (apart from Cleburne's division). Before the use of battleflags the ANV (confusingly called the Army of the Potomac originally) initially used the first national flag. This caused confusion as its layout was similar to that of the Union's stars and stripes. Regiments were ordered (or possibly advised) to replace it with their state's flag. It was very unusual for a regiment in the Confederate armies to carry two flags. Some in the ANV's Texas brigade carried a battleflag and a state flag and I think some North Carolina regiments did as well, but generally once battleflags were being used state flags were no longer carried. A little goes a long way |
Small Confederate Army with examples of units with one or two flags... |
