Hi guys,

has someone an idea for proxies for Tyroleans in 1809? Spanish guerilla is obvious, but I think, the costumes must be really different? In early 19th civiian clothing is usually very specific, especially in the countryside.

Something like this:

Perhaps TYW musketeers with wide-brimmed hats?

Cheers, Ralf

Spanish Guerillas would be the only ones in in 'civilian' clothing. Possibly you could use Jagers in Korsehut or some of the skirmish figures from the AWI/FIW range ?

AWI/FIW looks indeed very good, thank you for the advice!

Also have a look at the Boers in the Colonial Range. Sounds like an interesting project!

Boers maybe of interest too, maybe for commands with horses, thanks!.

The project will take some time, but I hope to do something this year. I'm just reading Gills '1809 Thunder on the Danube', that gives me a lot of nice ideas...

When they get re-released, you might look at the ECW clubmen. I think they'd be good for a wide range of civilian insurgents (I'm thinking to paint them up as South American peasant troops) and would have agricultural weapons rather than muskets. You could also use the AWI Rebel militia if you don't mind a few tricornes, or don't mind filing them down.

And some more in a better light this morning:

Most of them are from AWB10 - British Light Infantry- Round hat, Campaign, Skirmish, some from the American range (AWR02, AWR10) The british fit perfectly well, only the very common red vest has to be added by simply painting it on the clothing.

Bye, Ralf

Really nice - those look like very convincing Tyrolers to me!
