TOPIC: Length of Horse and Limbers |
Standard User Posts: 4 Scotbot 14th Oct 2020 07:51:35 I'm trying to decide on my base sizes for napoleonic cannon. I want to have the cannon up front with the horse and limbers behind, but not sure how long the limbers are (from horse nose to back of limber). Could someone help?
thanks! |
Standard User Posts: 404 Glenn Pearce 14th Oct 2020 08:16:10 Most people use the standard Polemos basing system which puts the crew and cannon on a 30mm x 30mm base and the limber with horses on a 60mm x 30mm base. This method allows you to show when the gun is limbered and when it is unlimbered. |
Standard User Posts: 4 Scotbot 14th Oct 2020 10:09:19 I am not basing to play Polemos, rather a different system. But are you saying that the limber is around 50-60mm long? |
Standard User Posts: 4 Scotbot 14th Oct 2020 10:15:50 to be more specific, i'm HOPING I can get 2 guns across on a 40mm wide (seems doable) and 50mm deep movement tray that will hold the gun and limber bases. I'd like the guns and limber to be on separate bases (as you suggest), so, i'm trying to figure out how deep the cannon base and limber bases need to be. If gun and limber will be deeper than 50mm, then I'd like to determine what depth i need to go to. Hope that makes sense and helps. |

The limbers are 45mm long, with the fixed horse bases being 35mm long. Cheers, Rhys |
