Various, Sundry and Diverse items
We're back from the beach desperately trying to clean the sand out of various crevices, nursing bad cases of simultaneous sunburn and trenchfoot (anyone who has ever been to a seaside holiday in the UK will understand how this can happen) and facing the distasteful prospect of all the work that's got to be done now we're back in something vaguely resembling reality.
We're entering a busy few weeks, so here's a few snippets of news and information.
Staffing: The Igor is having an extended break in the Old Country, in his words, 'To visit parts of his family he hasn't seen for a while..' Although this hasn't quite left me without a leg to stand on, it does render me a little short handed for a while. To this end, we'll be concentrating on keeping mail orders fulfilled and getting waiting times down. This will have two main effects:
- We simply won't be able to take as comprehensive a range of stocks to shows as we would like. If you are intending to do any purchases from us at a show and you know what you want, can you please email or call us with your list of things in advance. This is really important if you want to walk away with all your required goodies. Phalanx is coming up very soon, so please do get in touch.
- This will also affect the flow of new releases. As is well known, the annual Baccus forecast of what we'll get out in the year is notoriously unreliable, it's just likely to be even more flakey than usual for a small while.
The Joy of Six: On a more positive note, we are in the final planning stages of this year's Joy of Six show, and it's looking pretty good. The games threaten to upstage the 2017 crop, we've got the usual mix of the very best 6mm traders and new venue which will enable us to get the event into one room. You can find more details here http://www.thejoyof6.co.uk/ and you'll be seeing a lot more about this in the weeks to come.
Baccus Open Day: As usual, on the Saturday prior to the JOS, the doors of the Baccus workshop will be flung open to welcome a select band of visitors on the infamous Open Day tour. Places are limited, so you do have to book your place. If you'd like a fascinating behind the scenes at how we make the little men, call or email to reserve your place.
