JOS25 - The Yanks are coming! (At long last...)

This week’s update is a day earlier than usual, as form now on the Baccus team is working full on getting ready for this year’s Joy of Six show.
We’ll have lots of new releases at the show, and they’ll be listed below, but firstly an apology. We pride ourselves on getting lots of painted examples of the new codes and new releases when they come out. Well, the truth is that getting the Lens game completed in time has pretty well taken up all the time that would normally be spent on painting and photographing the new releases. As a result, we’ve lots of ‘No image available’ markers for the time being. We’ll now be working hard to rectify this. But enough of the excuses, what is coming to a Baccus trade stand near you?

Well… it’s definitely a 20th century set of models and sculpts, and starts with the Great War, and at long last, The Yanks are coming! We’ve started with a nice HQ set, and there’s a host of American crewed support weapons and artillery of French and British origin. This has necessitated the addition of a couple of new French guns which also make their way into the French army as well. Naturally enough, we’ve also introduced American Division and Corps HQ packs. The full list is:
- GWU01 US Chauchat LMG
- GWU02 - US Hotchkiss MG and crew
- GWU03 - US 37mm trench gun and crew
- GWU04 - US Headquarters
- GWU05 - US 75mm and crew
- GWU06 - US Schneider CS17 155mm
- GWU07 - US 4.7” field gun
- GWU08 - US 155mm GPF
- GWU09 - US 240mm mortar
- GWUSHQ - United States Corps HQ
- GWUSDIV - United States Division
All of these are available now and you can find them here:
As a byproduct, the French range gets a boost with the addition of two new artillery codes:
- GWF24 - French Schneider CS17 155mm
- GWF25 - French 155mm GPF & crew
All of which nicely brings us on to the next set of releases, which moves forward to1943 and the campaigns in North Africa.
Both the British and the German get some very nice Army HQ sets for Montgomery and Rommel. Strangely enough, both of feature the famous Dorchester command vehicle.

We now have Company Packs available for both the 8th Army and Afrika Corps. The British get a 2pdr ATG and the essential addition of some suitably motley and ‘desertised’ Bedford lorries. The sole German addition this time comes in the form of a Marder Iir. The full listing is as follows:
- WBA02 - 8th Army HQ Group
- WBA16 - Bedford MW 15cwt GS open top

- W43B01 – British Infantry company 1943
- WBA41 - British 2pdr ATG and crew
- WGA03 - DAK HQ group
- WGJ22 - Marder IIr

- W43G01 - German DAK infantry kompanie, 1943
Our final new releases come in the shape of additions to our popular Teeny Tiny Terrain range. It’s not buildings this time, but a system for those of you with a burning need to dig trenches. Representing trenches with correctly scaled terrain pieces is always a tricky proposal. You can’t dig into a tabletop so you are left with the option of building models that stand proud of the ground and you get long lines of mounds, which don’t quite capture the required appearance.

By moving to TTT you can get round all of this and build extensive and good looking trench systems. The obvious use for this system will be the Great War, but to be honest, as long as soldiers have had shovels someone has though it a good idea to dig a trench at some time. They are perfect for my own interest in 18th Century siege warfare.

You can find the details here:https://baccus6mm.com/catalogue/TeenyTinyTerrain/
That’s it for now. We hope to see lots of you over the weekend. I’ll leave you with a picture of our completed Lens game which will be making its debut at JOS, and then coming to a UK show near you.
