This week, it's all about Wargames shows.

This week new releases take a back seat, as it’s now all about wargames shows. However, as usual I will start with this week’s magic number which currently stands at #29200. The casters are doing a great job as they are also busy casting up stock and orders for shows…
..all of which brings us to the main topic for today.
It’s a tale of three cities, (well, two cities and a town really), starting with the Phalanx show at St Helens, which I will be attending tomorrow (June 22nd). For some reason it’s the only show of any size on the west side of the Pennines, and always worth the effort of driving over the big hills to get there.
However, for most of you reading this, that will be in the past, so thoughts now move to the next show on Sunday July 14th, which for so many people is THE wargames show to be at. The one, the only, the wonderfully marvellous Joy of Six! We have just about got the final layout done and will be publishing that very shortly. Suffice it say, we’ve got two dozen brilliant games of every size and subject, and the very best in 6mm retail therapy.

We are finding that many visitors like to make a weekend visit to Sunny Sheffield, and for those of you who plan to do this, we have arranged two events which may be of interest. The first is our ever popular Baccus Open Day. It’s your chance to see behind the scenes of how the little men are made and how we operate. These tour are always busy, and numbers are limited, so you do have to book your places. To back this up, the morning session is now full, so while we do have a few places left, they are for the afternoon tour.

For those of you staying in Sheffield on the Saturday evening, we’re arranging a social event at The Old Queens Head pub. This is the oldest pub in the city, the building itself dating back to 1475. We’ve booked the function room, and as well as decent beers, there is a full menu available for those wanting to eat. The pub has asked us to collect orders in advance, so if do want to come along and eat, please contact us with your choices so that we can pass them on. We really need to have this information by Monday 8th July.

We’ve has some cracking pre Joy of Six nights in the past and I am really looking forward to spending the evening in this wonderfully atmospheric building.
All of which brings me nicely to the next topic, and it’s really to repeat the refrain about getting those collect at show orders in to us in good time. This is always a frantically busy period for the Baccus team, and it helps us immensely if those orders get to us with plenty of notice. There is a facility to order and pay in advance on the Baccus shopping cart, or if you want to pay on the day, just email or phone us with your list.
And then we have Claymore up in Edinburgh. We really need pre-orders for this show in from now onwards. JOS has been bumped backwards by two weeks from our usual date, which only leaves us two weeks to restock our shelves after the battering that they receive there. This really makes getting collect orders in more important than usual.
And that’s about it for this week. No new releases, but we are working on a bumper crop for the Joy of Six, with additions to the new Teeny Tiny Terrain range, further releases for the British Army in North Africa and the long anticipated first models in the Italian Wars offerings.
If you are a 6mm gamer and you aren’t in Sheffield on July 14th, you really have to ask yourself, ‘Why not?
