Normal Service will be restored....

26th Jul 2024

To paraphrase someone or other, ‘it’s been a funny old week’.    As a result, this is a slightly different weekly update.   Firstly, apologies to all concerned, but we’ve not been able to get any mail order out this week.   The reason is that last Saturday, Lindy was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery, and I’ve spent the last few days split between the hospital, looking after our son and occasionally touching base with work.

Lindy has put all of this in her own words, and I can do no better than presenting them:

I am away for some time and, quite strangely, I am asking two things from our wonderful customers.

1) I am so grateful for the number of people who have emailed, but I am a little concerned as the ‘get well’ emails will be affecting work performance.

2) Please bear with us. We had just caught up and not only is Peter Boss (so he thinks), he is also now  admin, dad, cook, cleaner and dashing from the hospital and back.

I normally do the admin and Peter will be having to do this job alongside his own as I am not there to separate these from orders.

Nothing EVER runs smoothly!

You know what it is like, you get the kids fed, backpack on, your child falls out the door, smashes their knee, splits their trousers and gets blood all over the nice clean white shirt.

Well, that’s what’s happened to us.

I was a slave driver last week, staying past 9pm most nights to get orders up, liaising with customers and chasing any issues as they arose.

Thursday night, being late, we decided to get fish and chips on the way home. Friday at 2pm I was in agony.

Early hours of Saturday morning I was whisked away in an ambulance.

After a lot of prodding, bloods taken and scans, Peter left me being prepped for surgery with cannulas from any vein they could find.

Diagnosis… perforated bowel from fish bone!

She is doing well, and expects to be home over the weekend, but it’s a long road to full recovery, so things won’t be fully back to normal for some time.

In other news, some of you may be aware that the irrepressible Yarkshire Wargamer has been running a ‘World Cup of Miniature Manufacturers’.    The field has been reduced to eight quarter finalists, and much to my surprise, we are one of those companies!   Many thanks to all who made the effort to vote for us against some stiff competition in the earlier rounds.   As it happens, we are now drawn against the Perrys who are everyone’s favourite to win the competition and number one seeds to boot.   So, if you’d like to root for the underdog and help in staging a bit of giant killing, please do vote for us.    In a similar mode, Heroics are also in quarter final, and they have a tough round in Pendraken.  I’ll be voting for them, and I’d encourage you to do the same. This is the link to the Facebook page where the polls will be taking place.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1394761557711606

Finally, it is Claymore next weekend.   While we’ve partially restocked from the damage inflicted at JOS24, we won’t be fully stocked.  If you are going to the show and know what you would like from us, please do contact us so that we can ensure that you don’t face disappointment.
