There are some photos of a re-fight of Lutzen, 1632, that we did at the WMMS show at the weekend.

The battle was re-fought using the Twilight of Divine Right rules (http://www.wfgamers.org.uk/resources/C18/Twilight/ToDR.htm) in 6mm Baccus figures and ended with an Imperialist victory.

A lot more photos and reports are here -

Superb,

The big bases really work well.

Impressive

Through the travail of the ages Midst the pomp and toil of war Have I fought and strove and perished Countless times upon this star.
So as through a glass and darkly The age long strife I see Where I fought in many guises, Many names but always me.
So forever in the future Shall I battle as of yore, Dying to be born a fighter But to die again once more.

Over the top, first class presentation. What size are the bases and does the size embellish the game in anyway beyond the wonderful look?

Thanks for the kind comments.

Glenn: The bases are 14cm wide and 3cm or more deep. The size of the base makes no difference to the game and was chosen simply to show off the great figures and the formations.

The rules themselves, and those in the same series, very much use the same idea as the Polemos series in that everything is measured in BW. The only difference to some Polemos rules is a unit is a 'brigade' and is normally 2 bases. So the BW distance is half the frontage of a unit whatever that is. We did these instead as a single base but still the BW is 6cm (it should be 7cm but we haven't bothered changing).

These bases can be any size but around 5cm wide is normal - it won't surprise you that we generally use 6cm bases. We do though vary the number of bases we use as a unit & adjust the BW measurement appropiately. So for a very large battle we might say use 1 Polemos style base as a unit in which case the BW is 3cm. But for a small game, or just to be impressive, we might use say 4 Polemos style bases for a unit with a BW of 12cm. We do this for some GNW games.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Nick, it does. Very clever a different base for different occasions.
