TOPIC: Imperial Project : San Francisco Battle ! |
We are starting Our San Francisco Battle Project based on the "It's Getting a Bit Chile" Rules ! We are preparing Our Order and thinking about the basing... We prefer 6x6 cm square for infantry and 6x3cm for cavalry (two of these making a "big unit of cavalry")... Trebian is it possible to play with this basing in 6mm and make marker for the formation ? Do you think about some thing else about the basing ? Thanks for help L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Cons se le disent!!! Me & Mrs T were catching some late Winter sunshine "En Maroc" and have only just got back. Basing: The bases have a fundamretal role in the system. They show formation, and they allow for a simple way of showing whether Disorder has been absorbed or not by placing the makers under the support bases. You could do away with all of this by having a marker for the formation, and then simply tucking the Disorder markers under that, I suppose. It would not be my first choice way of doing things, as the formation/disorder mechanism was one of the first ideas I came up with and I built the system round that. In fact, actually, I really wouldn't do what you are proposing at all. I'd put the figures on the 30mmx15mm bases I use for 15mm figures. I've got 6mm figures based like that with 8 figures on a base and they look fine. But you've bought the vrules and you're buying the figures and you're a grown up so make your own choice!
As for your figure choices, they look good to me. Where you haven't got references I would tend to go for FPW French figures, ideally without backpacks, as they armies looked to Europe rather than North America for inspiration. All your command figures MUST come from FPW French Range, as the best tailors are celarly all based in Paris. It will be a very fine looking set of srmies You might want to add some extra Chilean units at some point, so they can go onto the attack. All the best

Merci Graham, Nous espérons que ta femme et toi êtes rentrés du Maroc sans problème ! We continue in english for non french speaking players. ???? Thanks for answer, no hurry… except if Peter close the cart ! ? For the basing, yes We are adults even if We always play with small soldiers… ???? We understand your point of view and your choice for the rules, then we will think about it again… We have time for that because We have painted hundreds of FPW figures and We would like to change of model! Regarding the choice of figurines, the whole FPW range has a backpack so does not seem to be suitable according to your answer ... even if "La mode de Paris" is effectively the best! ???? And so, We will order as many FPW command as possible to have weel dressed officers ! ???? Thank you again for inspiring us with this new project, for the rules and advice! ???? L'hotel etais vide sauf que les derniers Anglais et Francais. Les Belgique et Allemands fuite a la premiere indication des difficulte. I've had another think. The Bolivians wear a slightly higher crowned kepi, more like the Austrian style, so have a look at the Risorgimento range. RSA2 looks like a possibility, and maybe RSA1. It is essential that regardless of how poor your troops are that your officers look immaculate. You cannot expect the common soldier to respecxt you as an officer if he cannot see that you are clearly superior. Remember to paint their hands white, so it is obvious they are wearing gloves.
