TOPIC: Starting a new (tiny) army - Sumerians! |
Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 16th Dec 2020 02:15:02 Hello everyone! By way of a quick introduction, I've been painting historical miniatures, especially 6mm, for several years, but have never really shown my work to others or on the internet. I recently started a blog to both chronicle my journey in small-scale historicals, but also hopefully motivate me to keep painting! The first army I'm working through is a 6mm Sumerian army. I hope to provide updates once or twice a week; pease do check the first post out at my blog below:
And some images to whet the appetite!
Best wishes all, Paintbrush and Pike

Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 22nd Dec 2020 02:50:19 Just a quick pre-Christmas update, as I managed to find time to get another unit of Sumerian spearmen off of the table: Blog post with some further info can be found here: https://paintbrushandpike.blogspot.com/2020/12/supplementary-sumerian-spearmen.html Plenty more models to come in the New Year. Until then, I hope everyone stays safe and well, and let's hope 2021 brings more joy than the last year...

Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 28th Feb 2021 09:56:18 Another quick update today, after some comparative radio silence - some tribal reinforcements in the form of Amorites. No companies actually sell 6mm Amorites, so I had to improvise somewhat. The figures are actually Irregular immortals from their Achaemenid range. Unfortunately they come with a quiver on their back, but other than that I think they're pretty good stand-ins. Plus, if I ever decide to start a Persian army, I'm already one unit down...
I'm really proud of these figures, especially the textile patterns. I think they really pop and although they pushed the limits of my abilites at 6mm I think they couldn't have come out better.
Hopefully I'll have some more updates soon - in the meantime, do please check out the latest few posts at the blog (https://paintbrushandpike.blogspot.com/) Until next time, Ben (Paintbrush and Pike)

Very nice brushwork indeed. I like the comparison with the 28mm figures. Their detail is lovely, but it is the 6mm lads that make an actual army. A little goes a long way |
Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 2nd Mar 2021 05:14:49 Thank you all so much for the replies! They're really kind and really keeping me motivated. Thought I'd keep the momentum going with another quick update, of the first fully finished Sumerian division. Two units of pikemen, one (or two small) units of household archers, and one of chariots, alongside a commander. Hope you enjoy!
