TOPIC: 6mm Celts |
Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 4th Mar 2021 03:05:52 Hello everyone! I've recently started painting a 6mm Celtic Hail Caear army, and although I already have a thread for my ongoing Sumerian project on here, I thought it would be best to separate this as its own project for ease. I've popped a few images of the first few units below - it absolutely goes without saying here, but the Baccus celts are a complete joy to paint.
Painting the shield designs was a bit of experimentation but I think I'm happy with the result; they give an approximation of Celtic designs at this scale, at least!
Although not strictly speaking Baccus figures I've also painted up the command stand and some cavalry for this first division:
Anyway, I hope you enjoy! The latest blog post on this army, with a few more details, can be found here: https://paintbrushandpike.blogspot.com/ Best wishes all, Ben (Paintbrush and Pike) Blog: https://paintbrushandpike.blogspot.com/ |
love them! |
They look brilliant doing that Celtic thing of charging out of the trees. 43+ is something I have thought about for some time, so once Pony Wars is established.............. A little goes a long way |

Great job! Bravo! :-) Question did you make yourself the wood behind them ? They look great too! Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 17th Mar 2021 05:08:29 Thank you all for the comments! The feedback really means a lot. I did indeed make the woods myself, mostly from flock and scatter foliage, with matchsticks for the trunks - I'm planning to do a tutorial for them on the blog at some point. I thought I'd share some images of the next units off of the painting queue, some bases of chariots. I had a lot of fun with the various horse colours; I think the pinto is my fave, but let me know what you think! As ever, more photos can be found on the latest blogpost (here). Best wishes all, Ben (paintbrush and pike)

Before l painted Baccus figures l always saw painting figures as a chore. Never enjoyed it but knew it had to be done. Baccus turned that upside down for me. I enjoy painting Baccus figures and could do it all day if l had the time. Your painting is clearly over the top as is your basing style and terrain making. World class work! Bravo!!

Standard User Posts: 6 Bespeh 5th May 2021 01:03:03 Thank you all so much for the kind comments! It really does keep me motivated to keep going. I've unfortunately had litle time to paint recently, but managed to use the Bank Holiday Weekend to wrap up some more Celtic bases, this time javelin-armed light units:
As always, bigger photos and some more information can be found on the latest blog post. Best wishes all, Ben (Paintbrush and Pike)
