Fascinating photos, many thanks for posting. Sorry about the Bavarian info; I thought you were asking about the general difference between the Bavarian line and jaeger infantry. the variety of collars and cuffs make for a very colourful army, especially as many brigades contained battalions from up to theree different regiments. (In some of the II Corps brigades every battalion was from a different regiment). Of course, were you producing accurate diorama figures the Bavarians would look a real group of ragamuffins by this stage of the war, sporting tattered greatcoats and many in civilian trousers. A little goes a long way |
Thank you Dourpuritain, No problem for bavarian uniform colours... We are not very learned on this point in this period and other ! And We definitivly choose "old fassion painting" ! Every body go to war wearing his uniform of parade ! :-) No ragamuffins on the table ! ;-)

No Baccus Bavarians in greatcoat anyway, and, like you, I am gaming so the Bavarians are resplendent in their cornflower blue and coloured collars and cuffs. A little goes a long way |
We have not been very active for some time ... but the commemoration of the 148th anniversary of the battle, pushed us to the paint board! Thanks to those who helped us for the colors!

Magnificent looking troops on spectacular basing. A little goes a long way |
Thanks Dourpuritan ! :-) In fact, we are certainly better "baser" than painter ! ;-) L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Just wondering, though, since you are creating armies for Loigny - why didn't you go for snowy bases? Obviously they are a bit limiting, but not that much, since many other battles of the republican phase of the war were also on snowy battlefields: Beaugency, Le Mans, St Quentin, Champigny, Villersexel / the Lisaine ... ? (OK, I admit it, my FPW armies are all on summery green bases too!) Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! https://uk.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/BBB_wargames/info http://bloodybigbattles.blogspot.com/

Hi ChrisBBB, Yes you're right ! minus 20°C this decembre 2nd, 1870 !!! Snowy day... So We are thinking about that front of a plenty shoe box of winter stuff that have nothing to do with chrismas tree ! ;-) But We wait to finish all the bases to make a similar snowy effect as for the terrain ! This is for 2020... so again a long time to read Us here ! :-) L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Must admit, my Bavarians appear at Worth and Wissembourg then right the way through, so they are on green/brown bases. After several BBB games with my 6mm figures on 30x30 bases I have found the battlefields getting a little crowded and have now moved to 30x20, and 60x20 (double bases for swifter movement) for my BBB games. A little goes a long way |
