After I'd done a couple of the big based ECW infantry battalia, I'd been curious to see what would happen if I gave some Horse the same treatment.  Judging from emails and questions at shows, so are al lot of others.

I decided to base the unit on the contemporary drill books.  Here we have a troop drawn up in 3 divisions:

I worked out that I could fit two of these on a standard base, and the end result was this:

Which I thought was quite spiffing, so I knocked out another one and took some pretty pictures:

All of which has given me an idea for a project.  And as anyone who knows me will tell you - I am dangerous when I get an idea...

Oh my goodness! I am very keen to get into For King and Parliament. Was going to go 15mm - not any more! Please keep posting this inspirational stuff, Peter. It is beyond temptation.

Hi Peter, really impressive units, what size bases are these? as I concur with dourpuritan, they look fantastic and would fit FK&P really well.

The Big Bases measure 200x100.  As they are a 2:1 ratio they are perfectly sized for Polemos ECW.

Will Polemos work with a low(er) number of units and a long base width or are you going to need a football field to play on Peter? I'm asking since I'm doing my P&S units on three 60x30 bases and am still considering rules.

My club are busily building TYW (and ECW) armies for an upcoming large battle set - they will be called 'Twilight of Divine Right' and shoud be out in a month or so, along with a couple of scenario books. Most historic battles are 1 player a side to be played in an afternnon/evening.

We use units which are nominally 2 bases of 60mm frontage but often people just use a single big base as this often looks better. It doesn't matter in the rules either way or indeed with any other basing.

In this set most, so far all but Breitenfeld, battles are on a 6 foot by 4 foot table with a 'reasonably' sized army.

We are hoping to run some demo games at shows later in the year - assuming we can get the figures painted.
