TOPIC: Elephants for Early Imperial Romans |
Standard User Posts: 8 Brasidas 7th Jan 2018 04:14:52 Hi all. I am looking for some help on which range of elephants would be the best fit for Ealry Inperial Romans — e.g. when Claudius invaded Britain. I see elephants for Carthaginians as well as for Successors, just wondering which would look more like how Romans would have outfitted them

I would be inclined to go for ACA4 the Carthaginian elephant. By the time Rome was becoming an empire the very powerful Parthian Empire had appeared in the east, cutting off the supply of Indian elephants. At the same time, however, Rome now controlled North Africa with its supply of African forest elephants (the smaller breed tamed by the Carthaginians), apparently now extinct. A little goes a long way |
