TOPIC: WW I Austrian Pike Grey... |
Standard User Posts: 13 Peter Godden 10th Jan 2019 12:27:10 Apologies if this has already been covered, but the release of the WW I Austrian range has me wondering ... how do others depict this shade? When painting 6mm I usually undercoat in black, largely stick to Vallejo acrylics and rely on "magic wash" to produce the appearance of texture and depth. I'd appreciate any recommendations, or a colour suggestion which would suit this style of painting... Cheers.

I have used Anita's acrylic Periwinkle for my Austrian 10mm Square Bashing army - now new possibilities with 6mm. A little goes a long way |

Standard User Posts: 13 Peter Godden 12th Jan 2019 09:33:32 Hi dourpuritan and Fenton, thanks for your thoughts. I haven't been able to source the Periwinkle online, (though many other of Anita's hues are advertised), so I'll have a close look at the differences between 905 and 907. Both sound promising! Cheers. |
Standard User Posts: 207 monk2002uk 28th Jan 2019 09:39:10 I used Citadel's Russ Grey layer paint for the base coat (on white primer). Then a Drakenhof Nightshade wash. Once the wash was dry, I picked out the raised areas with Russ Grey again, followed by small dabs of Tenrisian Grey highlights. This time around, I will spray paint the figures with AK Interactive 3101 (link). It is described as Greyish Blue / WWI French Uniform Base Figure Paint but looks like a very good base colour for Pike Grey. Robert |
