TYW Command Strips & Flags

I have just been painting up some extra command stands for my C17 armies.  The typical command strip is cast with two standard-bearers, but the Thirty Years' War flag sets seem to imply a single main standard?  Anyway, what is the collective wisdom on the best way of using them?

I vary the number depending on the type of unit - I use a single big base per unit.

So an 'Early Tercio' units I use 2 or 3 in a unit of about 130 figures. In a 'Tercio' I use 2 in a unit of about 50 figures and in a 'Regiment' I use 1 in a unit of 36 figures.

The flags are based, where possible, directly on the available evidence, with a tiny bit of extrapolation and inspiration.   I tried to make sure that there was more than one example of a set of regimental colours, and you will find them grouped that way.   In a few cases, there was only the one example to use and then you will only get the single colour.

As with all things historical, we get loads of information on some things (I had to exclude a fair number of flags where we had full regimental sets) and not enough on others, where we get only sketchy information at best.

My aim was to provide enough colours of one type to provide enough for the command stand.

I have plans.   I am dangerous when I have plans...
