O Group: Question about Cover-Rules

Dear all

I wonder if somebody could help me to understand the cover rules in O group properly.

In the rules is written, that "any Units in open ground do not gain any cover bonus".(i forgot the exact words written, but this is what I understand). So, my question is, if "open ground" refers to a birds-eye-perspective or a point-of-view of the shooting unit?

Let me explain my question as part of following example;  The table is completely empty, just two platoons, one of each fraction and one small hedge. Imagine the two opposing platoons are in range of fire of each other (let us say 12 inches apart). Now, the mentioned small hedge is located exactly in the middle of these two platoons, from each 6 inches away). Now, if one Platoon shoots to the other, does the hedge in half way count as cover? (in terms of birds-eye, i would say, both platoons are in "open ground", but in perspective of each platoon, the other platoon is behind a hedge (but 6 inches away from it).

Thanks for any hints (i had the same problem in Bolt Action a few years ago, but as i saw in Youtube-Videos, most used in BA the point of view of the unit). In a Lard-TV-Video with David C.R. Brown i got a sequence, where it seems, that in O Group it is used the "birds-eye-perspective"....

Thanks in advance and i wish all of you a merry Chrismas.

best regards from Switzerland

Michael

Hi Mort, thanks a lot. I rechecked chapter 10.5, but did not get a final answer. Its not mentiomed, if the unit in cover has to be directly (1 inch?) behind the cover or if also more separated from cover will gain the bonus. I try to rewatch some videos :-)    Thaaaanks and cheers
