According to the example on page 23 Lord Taylor's 4 base Royalist brigade advance towards the 3 base brigade of Sir Anthony Cullen. In reply, Cullen' s bases R1, R2 and R3 fire at bases C1, C2, C3 and C4. Combat values, die rolls and tables adjustments are all added to give the final results. This is the point at which I have the problem; IF the bases R1, R2 and R3 are using Offensive fire and get results of (R1 difference of +4) (R2 difference of +3) (R3 differences of -1 and 0) How can the Defending bases suffer a -4 adjustment for fire over 1BD distance?, when the table clearly states the Defending unit adjustment for this fire should be 0.
Am I reading something wrong or does this entire Ranged fire example need to be rewritten to make sense?.
