Polemos Kommandant der Armee - Rules questionsBigpeteriley 15th Sep 2024 02:11:44 Hello Frank I have looked at these question and tried to answer them clearly, if you have any more I will look in from time to time. Question 1: - Tempo cost of formations. In the list of tempo point costs, there is
How does it work together?
Answer 1: The Answer is 3 TP’s: On Page 15 under definitions, it says: To begin to move a single unit it would cost the player 2 TP’s, a formation of two units 3 TP’s, of 3 units 4TP’s and so on. Question 2: - Ranged attacks. They are a dice throw against each other, with bad results possible for both sides. Is this also the case by firing against a unit, that can’t fire back (Cavalry, or firing with Chassepot against shorter ranged needle gun)? Answer 2: I have looked at the ranged combat as a process that mirrors the ebb and flow of a firefight, so it does not mean that individual infantry and cavalry companies, battalions and brigades are static and just standing and soaking it up. The negative results are more about the abject failure of the firing troops to cause any significant damage on the enemy and suffer a reverse in confidence or leadership. Question 3 - Phasing in a turn. The turn sequence (p. 12) has in the attack phase three subphases: Ranged attacks, outcome of ranged attacks, movement of units launching attacks into combat. Then is the (close) combat phase, and then the other movement. Is it right, that units launching attacks are only units that are in 1 BW range and that are automatically moved into contact? Answer 3: Yes, they are the only ones that are automatically moved into contact? Question 3a: -- So: A single unit 2 BW away of an enemy can shoot. He can’t go into close combat, because he is not in 1 BW? In the "other movement step" he could move into close combat (3 BW move, because only one unit wide). Does he fight in the enemies "contact phase" (his own has already happened)? Does he then get his assault bonus? (Note: what Assault Bonus?) Answer 3a: He cannot go into combat full stop. Page 16 ranged combat last para: Bases may not move in their sides movement phase if they take part in Ranged Attack Phase. Question 3b -- The same unit is 3,5 BW away. He moves in the "other movement step", is now 0,5 BW away. Enemy turn. The enemy can’t shoot, because he is under 1 BW. Who is moved in the enemies "launching attack"-sub step. The unit or the enemy? What happens, if the enemy doesn’t want to move (because he is in cover)? Answer 3a: Page 16 ranged combat para 3: If a unit moves closer than 1BW to an enemy unit it must move to contact in the Contact Phase. Sorry iot has taken this long to answer.
