Hi!  A friend and I are starting to look at MdE, and I have a question about how TPs are allocated by the Generals.

First (and particularly for armies such as the British in the Peninsula which had no corps structure) are "formation" leaders (ie Divisional commanders) represented on the table?  Are they only represented when there are no Corps commanders?

Second, does a Corps commander allocate TPs (including his own) divided up between the two formations, or does he just allocate TPs as he sees fit?  The illustrationon page 14 shows a Ccorps commander receiving TPs and disbursing them between two formations, but there are no formation leaders or apparent division of TPs between the two formations of his Corps.

Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,

1- No. No. The only commanders who would appear on the table are 'Wing' commanders, so Hill and Graham might be represented later on.

2 - As he sees fit. On p.14, Alltmann's formations are acting as a single force, as a Corps; he isn't disbursing them to to two separate formations in that sense.

Thanks.  So for a French/Russian/Austrian army, you have the C-in-C and Corps commanders.  Each general gets their TP and distributes them as they see fit, with the caveat that their personal TP have to go to troops in a single formation.

For Wellington in the Peninsual (or 1806 Prussians or various early armies) the Army commander distributes his TP to the lower level formations, but there are no officer figures represented on the table

Thanks!
