Yes, it works fine pretty much as written, I have played lots of games exactly like this; it changes a little of the logic but not in such a way that is particularly noticeable. You also get a bit more space to manoeuvre.. The alternative is to butt two bases together for the infantry and the cavalry, and count that as a single base. To stop figure count getting too high for the bigger games, you can make skirmisher bases as half of the infantry base. |

The only thing I might suggest then is using a BD (e.g. 30mm) as the basic unit of measurement rather than the BW (e.g. 60mm), or at least try it both ways to see how you feel (longer ranges and faster movement, or the opposite). |
