Just one week to go...

5th Jul 2024

You will all have to forgive me for banging on about the Joy of Six 2024, but it really is quite a big deal here at the Dark Tower that is Baccus HQ.   However, there will be an initial respite as we get down to the business of the weekly magic number, which currently stands at #29300.  Apologies if progress has been a little slow this week, but once again, we have had to replace a consignment of orders ‘lost’ by a courier company.   We have now replaced all thirty of these, but at the expense of regular orders, and we will aim to catch up next week.   I’d like to give a big shout out to Lindy, who has gone above and beyond over the last few days to get the replacement orders out in such a short time frame.

Just one week to go to the start of the big 6mm packed  weekend.   We will be kicking off with the Baccus workshop tours on Saturday 13th.  Both sessions are now completely booked out and I’ve bought in extra dark chocolate Hob-Nobs in anticipation.  In the evening we’ve arranged a get together for those of you staying in Sheffield overnight.   However, in a change to the schedule brought about by ‘circumstances beyond our control’, we have had to change venue.   We will now be meeting at the Benjamin Huntsman pub.   This is located very conveniently for the City Centre hotels on Cambridge Street.

Food is available, so come along, meet up with your fellow hobbyists, rub shoulders with what passes for the glitterati of the 6mm wargames community and have a good time.

All of which will bring us to the main event of the year, the Joy of Six 2024!   Lots of games to see, lots of games to play, lots of traders to frequent, lots of conversations to be had and the knowledge that you are at the friendliest show that its possible to attend.   We will be having the usual Baccus Sunday Grill, where you get to put the Baccus team on the spot, and the afternoon panel session, this year featuring Robert Dunlop, the master of the huge WW1 games, Dan Hodgson who can seem to produce spectacular models as easily as other mortals breathe, and the infamous Yarkshire Gamer himself, Ken Reilly. (Please feel free to boo the villain...)

Do come along to both sessions and ask as many tricky, nasty and underhand questions as you are able.  It’s all part of the fun…

And talking of the Yarkshire Gamer, if you’ve not heard any of Ken’s podcasts, you are missing a treat.  He has a great sense of humour and a far more balanced view of our hobby than may seem apparent at first glance.   He is also currently running the, ‘World Cup of Historical Wargames Miniature Manufacturers – a fun competition matching up various companies in a series of head to head votes.   6mm is represented by Heroics & Ros, who are seeded in the knockout, and Baccus.  We are currently matched up against the might of Old Glory, so if you get the chance pop along to https://www.facebook.com/share/p/azCaMeBoQkkCKj4M/  and support your local neighbourhood maker of little men.

Talking of little men, we are working on a host of new releases for the Joy of Six, which will include some from this selection of forthcoming additions to our ever-expanding WW2 range.

As usual I will end today by making the plea to get those orders for collection in to us.  This includes not only JOS24, but also for Claymore.   It helps us immensely if we know what to cast in advance!

That's it for today - just one week to go....
