It's not far away now - Joy of Six 2025

There are just five weeks to go before the Joy of Six 2025.   But before we get into that, it is time for this week’s magic order number which currently stands at #32126.  

So, what is all the fuss about?   Well, if you pop along to www.joysofsix.co.uk you will find out for yourself.  Can’t be bothered to click?   Then let me fill you in on what the weekend can offer.

If you are a real 6mm aficionado, then it all starts on Saturday 12th July, when you will have booked yourself into a tour round the Baccus workshop.  In two hours, you will get to learn the dark secrets of the origins of the company, plus insights into just how all of those miniature warriors gracing your tabletop come into being.  We even throw in some free coffee and dark chocolate Hobnobs.  The afternoon slots are fully booked, but we do have some spaces free for the morning session, so if you fancy joining the fun, book a place here: https://form.jotform.com/240702796600353

Moving on to Saturday evening, we have arranged a get-together for those of you staying in Sheffield overnight.   This is going to be at the Garrison Hotel https://garrisonhotel.co.uk/ .  For anyone staying at a City centre location, it really is easy to to get to via bus, tram or one of those taxi chappies.

The beer is nice, the food excellent, and reasonably priced and the venue will be considerably less packed than City centre venue.   You can even book a room there if you want to make things more convenient.   If you are joining us for the evening, please let us know asap so we can get a handle on numbers.

Then we come to the Big Day.   Over twenty games, all in 6mm.   All in one place.   You will be lucky to get more than two 6mm games in even the biggest UK shows.  What’s more, this is the show where the stops are pulled out and the amps turned up to eleven.   You will get big games, and little games.  Games that just make you want to stop and admire the sheer beauty of what is on the table.   Games that you can join in and play.   Games from Ancient history right through to the far future.   Games on dry land and sea.  All of them in wonderful, glorious, technicolour three dimensional 6mm goodness.

Then we have the traders.  An assembly of traders with stands groaning with 6mm regiments, warbands, hordes, divisions and armies.   Plus, specialist sellers of 6mm scenic and terrain.  All if this, uniquely in one single venue.   Forget the likes of Salute and Partizan.   The Joy of Six is THE place for 6mm retail therapy.

You get the chance to publicly humiliate and embarrass the Baccus management team in the Sunday morning grill and ask intelligent questions of wargaming luminaries in the afternoon panel session.

Finally, there is the venue itself.   Located in the City centre, Sheffield Hallam University has convenient parking nearby and is a short walking distance from the Railway station.   Inside, it is light and airy with first class catering at reasonable prices.   No need to get a second mortgage for a coffee and sandwich (yes, I am looking at you Excel centre!).

Phew.  I am getting tired just typing this stuff out.
