Baccus needs You!
I will start off with an apology, due to an attack of the Unforeseen Circumstances, there is no magic number this week. Normal service will be resumed in seven days’ time.

As I type this there is just one month to the day before this year’s Joy of Six. As part of this year’s event, Baccus will have the first outing of our 6mm game of the Battle of Lens 1648. I know that a good many of you are interested in the progress of this project, and to this end, I’ve been working on a short video explaining how we are putting the bases and units together. I hope to be able to get this posted on YouTube in the next few days.
In the meantime, is a picture of the French side thus far – you get two thirds of the army in this shot. By the time it’s completed there will be just shy of 4000 figures on the table top.

Our aim is to take the game to as many shows as we can over the next year. However, we don’t generally have the personnel available to run the game. As a result, we are looking for volunteers to run things at the various shows that we attend with the Baccus trade stand. The rules are really simple, so acting as an umpire shouldn’t be too taxing. In return, you will get the chance to be part of a really cool project, to be the recipient of a natty T-shirt and to have a nice sum to spend on the Baccus products of your choice. These things are best done as teams, so we are looking for two to three volunteers per show. If you are at all interested, then please get in touch with us.
Once we get a clearer idea of personnel, we will post a list of shows the game will be attending. We have already got the game booked in for Claymore in August, although in this case the organisers seem to have used a press gang rather than volunteers…
As is usual for this time of year, I will finish by making a couple of requests. If you are planning to come to our Saturday night social event prior to this year’s JOS, can you please let us know by Friday. June 20th. We need to finalise numbers for the venue. Next, if you want to come along to the Baccus Open Day, there are places left for the morning session. You can book your place(s) here https://form.jotform.com/240702796600353
.Finally, please get the collect orders in for JOS and Claymore well in advance. We will get a lot of these orders, and it helps us immensely if we can get these done ahead of time.
The Joy of Six 2025 – it’s going to be a cracker!
