Joy of Six 2022 Preview: Gallipoli 1915
With the first Joy of Six since 2019 coming up fast, it's time to start previewing some of the wonderful games that will be on display in Sheffield on July 3rd. We'll start with Robert Dunlop's usual Great War Blockbuster...
This game will model the ANZAC attempt to capture Sari Bair ridge as well as the simultaneous British landings at Suvla Bay in early August 1915.
The aim was to break out of the deadlock around Anzac Cove. The British and Dominion forces were stuck on the lower ground, overlooked by the Sair Bair ridge line. On August 6/7, a daring plan was set in motion to outflank the Ottoman defences. The game will include the Battle of Lone Pone, the capture of Chunuk Bair, and the ill-fated attack by the Australian Light Horse on the Nek.
The game will be staged on three staggered 6 x 4 tables. Robert has provided photos of two of the tables.
Robert has had two years to work on this game. I am looking forward to seeing every game at this year's show, but this one is really grabbing my attention!
