'What are you working on?'

19th Apr 2024

After last week’s frantic flurry of new releases, it’s going to be a quieter update this week, but first, we have the magic order number, which this week stands at #28547.

As you may well know, Baccus travels to a lot of wargames shows.   If there is on overwhelming subject of conversation and endless source of requests and queries, it is, ‘What are you working on at the moment?’.  It’s a fair enough question, and here, for the benefit of all of you who can’t collar your friendly purveyor so small fine scale figurines, is a sort of Work in Progress report.   (No piccies, so it’s sort of boring visually.)

  • Italian Wars – yes, that little thing.   First stage work on the Gendarmes has been completed and second stage sculpting is no underway.   I expect to have these done by June, at which point works start on Landsknechts.
  • WW2 Desert/Italy – The current crop of infantry will shortly be reinforced by artillery and a very nice-looking command set.   Vehicles are already well advanced, with the aim to have a good number available for the Joy of Six.
  • WW2 North-West Europe and Eastern Front – Not forgotten, not a bit of it!   The American, Russian and German forces have more bits and pieces in the pipeline, and these will be appearing steadily over the next few months.
  • Publications – Work is well underway on the layout for a Polemos SYW set written by Glenn Pearce and based on his RDG variant.   Behind that there are two further new rules sets completed in draft form and a possible second edition of an existing set.
  • Secret Project #1. -  I would love to tell you all about this, but it might get a frosty reception from our partners in the project.  I wouldn’t want to chill relations at this early stage.
  • Secret Project #2 – I am hoping to release this by June, building on earlier work.
  • 6mm Book – Not a Baccus project as such, but still very much a subject dear to all our hearts.   I am now curating a large number of photos for use in the finished article.
  • Secret Project #3 - Something I think that will be really popular, although some may regard it as a little crackpot.

So, you are all now much better informed about what to expect from us and what we are busy working on.   In the absence of other nice pictures, here is what I think are some nicely spectacular shots.  I have dusted off my venerable 1:1 Napoleonic French battalion and lined it up for a couple of pictures.    It’s not really a whim, as there is an ulterior motive, which may or may not be associated with one of the secret projects above.

I’ll close today’s post with yet another reminder that our prices will be going up in May.   At the time of posting, you have just 11 days to get your fix at current rates…
