Great Northern War Russians

29th Sep 2023

After last week’s paean lauding the virtues of England’s Steel City, it’s more of a prosaic piece today.   ‘Why’, asks one of my regular customers, ‘Do you always announce new releases the day before a wargames show?   Even if I know I am going there, it never gives me chance to work out what I want.’

‘Fair enough’, says I, ‘Let’s see what I can do’.   And so, this week will see the Partizan show releases available in time for you to actually order them for the show.   What a brilliant idea!   However, before we get on to all of that excitement, it’s time for a bit of housekeeping in the shape of this week’s order number which stands at #25601.   (The usual caution applies that a couple of orders prior to this will miss the cut and will  go out next week.)

The big news for this week is the full release of our resculpted and expanded Great Northern War Russian range.   These models replace what was one of the oldest set of sculpts in our catalogues and they bring the Russians bang up to modern standards.   We’ve finally added Horse Grenadiers to the range,

which should cheer the hordes of people who have requested these chaps over the years.  Another oft-requested code is the dismounted dragoons wearing Kartuz.

As befits an overhaul of the figures, we’ve also taken the opportunity to update and expand the range of flags available.  The existing sheets have been redesigned from scratch using vector format, which gives a much sharper and more detailed end result.

We’ve also added extra sheets covering Strelzy regiments, the 1712 pattern colours for the infantry, and the pre-1712 pattern Dragoon colours.

As with all of our Polemos ranges, we have army and booster packs available, and a boxed set.

All are designed for use with our own GNW rules, but are perfectly suited to other systems.   The Russians are also matched with a Swedish force for one of our popular ‘Matched Pair’ sets.

You can find all the details if you click here.

These figures will feature in one of our ‘Showcase’ videos in the future, but to get an idea of what you can expect, follow this link to check out the video on their Swedish opponents.

If you would like to order some of these little beauties, or indeed anything else  for collection at Partizan, you now have no excuse.   You have the time, so use it well!

Finally,  it wouldn’t be a weekly update without a little tease, so here are a couple of images of some things that will also make their first appearance at Partizan.  More details next week…
