Standard User Posts: 26 corfe 4th Dec 2017 01:52:12 I use 60mm by 30mm laser cut 2mm mdf for bases (60 by 40 for cavalry and double bases), with three ranks of 11 plus a few stragglers for solid infantry, 8 per base for Psiloi and Light horse, and 12 per base for fast auxilia. (Yes, I am a DBA player). |
Standard User Posts: 26 corfe 4th Dec 2017 02:03:33 You can't beat Baccus for hoplites - far and away the best on the market. The Persian King's chariot in the pics I've posted however is scratch-built with Adler horses who should actually be pulling an ACW artillery limber. I also prefer Rapier's Persian archers to Baccus (sorry Peter). I'm waiting on a large order from Baccus to finish off my Persian cavalry, and from what I have seen already, Rapier and Baccus cavalry are really not compatible on the same base. Baccus are much bigger (and nicer). Horses for courses. I tend to customise my cavalry (yes, I am sad enough to customise 6mm figures), and apart from hoplites, legionaries and other heavy infantry, I like my bases to look as variegated and chaotic as possible. I have some very nice Rapier Celts waiting to be painted, and I hope that Baccus Celts are compatible - they seem a wee bit smaller. Anyway, thanks for reading. |

Standard User Posts: 26 corfe 4th Dec 2017 02:06:37 Apologies for the autumnal lighting and the strained perspective - I'm not much of a photographer. Baccus Spartans holding their own against Rapier Persians! |

Standard User Posts: 56 Fireymonkeyboy 4th Dec 2017 02:24:27 corfe, I've found what works is to paste the html link, post, then edit the post and update (don't make any changes, just hit the edit button and save changes. For whatever reason, this will then cause the pic to show up. FMB |
