TOPIC: Cutting strips? |
Standard User Posts: 73 gsayhi 4th Feb 2021 05:32:19 Hello again, I would like to know how easy the strips are to cut. I would like to take the 4 infantry strip and cut into 2 infantry strips. That way, I can put my troops in 2 front, 2 deep stands that will allow me to do march columns and squares according to my rules system. (I have been given suggestions to use a marker to indicate formation type but that really doesn't appeal to me). Is this possible to do? Thanks again for everyone's advice. It has been most helpful. You all get a "thumbs up" from me :) |
Easy enough. No problem at all IMHO. I have a unit in column of twos (ACW) the only way to pass them over a bridge from Baccus. Markers?... maybe... but I guess that answers your question. Cheers |
Very easy to cut... every one do it for the skirmisher ! :-) L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Some have enough space between them to cut without too many problems, others are so shoulder to shoulder that it's a difficult procedure - not impossible, but tricky at times. |

Guess what! Baccus sell a tool for cutting strips. See tools in the catalogue. A little goes a long way |

Dear Gsayhi. The Baccus Napoleonic infantry that I have bought to date (Austrians, French, Wurtemburg, Bavarians) can be split into seperate figures. You need to do this for the artillery, cavalry & skirmishers. The only problems occur when the troops in line are actually connected at the shoulder. I have been experimenting with breaking up the neat rows of troops for early French, to give the "ragged, revolutionary" look that I want. I've also cut up rows of four to ease the painting of command groups or to remove/replace figures. I trust that this helps! Cheers Colin (the Wargamer) |
Administrator Posts: 897 peter 7th Feb 2021 09:13:28 Cutting strips - even the close order ones - is simple, provided that you use the right tool. It is diffficult if you try to separate figures with a knife, scissors scalpel, or as one correspondent has tried, a pair of toenail clippers! It is easy if you use a pair of small side cutters. As dourpuritan has noted, we sell such a tool, https://www.baccus6mm.com/catalogue/BrushesPaintsandtools/ which I only started stocking as a result of being asked repeatedly the best way of separating strips! I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |
