What is the normal way of basing British grenadiers for the WSS?  Base them with their parent units or as formed units of grenadiers?

Interesting period - seriously under-taught in English schools (don't know about Wales, Scotland and NI) and my first non-heavy metal wargame army. My solution (with the Black Powder rules in mind) was a whole battalion on three 20x20 bases and a movement tray. Currently two ranks deep, (although considering re-basing to three deep after seeing piccies elsewhere on this forum), with four grenadier figures on the far right (two and two). Obvious issue is forming battalion-sized grenadier detachments, as happened, and I am still thinking about that one.....

In the WSS grenadiers normally stayed with the parent units in field battles, sieges are a different matter. There were some exceptions of permanent grenadier units rather than combining the grenadiers from the line units. But other than this combined grenadier units were rare and given there were also only a few permanent units then grenadier units were not common.

For the English/British there are maybe 2 or 3 units during the war. In 1708 there was a combined grenadier unit at Wynendale which was commanded by a British officer. Most likely the actual grenadiers were mainly/all allied soldiers but some might be British - there were no British units at this battle. In 1710 a combined grenadier battalion of mixed British, Dutch and Palatine grenadiers was used in one battle. The same unit probably also fought in a second battle - these were in Spain.
