TOPIC: FPW French infantry query |
Standard User Posts: 183 pushing.tin 6th May 2022 09:30:31 Does anyone know what the difference is between Imperial and Republican infantry in the French FPW range? Thanks

in 6mm the main difference would be that imperials have shoulder pads, while republicans don't. You can use ACW range with cap for some garde mobile or corps francs... This give a bit of fantasy! ;-) L'Empereur Béte et Méchant vous invite à visitez : Le Blog : https://lempereurzoom13.blogspot.fr/ & Le Projet 2020 : https://2020batailledeloigny.blogspot.fr/... Administrator Posts: 897 peter 6th May 2022 01:40:09 Just to confirm, the only difference between the two is that the Imperial troops all have epaullettes, while the Republican lose the shoulder furniture. I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |

They are only half the infantry though, the units referred to as Regiments de Marche. The other half of most units in the various Republican armies were the Garde Mobiles, who usually did not have access to greatcoats. In the northern army there were also a few Garde Sedentaire units with a variety of coloured greatcoats, such as green and brown. The Republicans also had zouaves and Turcos, Foreign Legion, Zephyrs and sailors, plus chasseurs a pied, also minus the epaulettes worn in the imperial phase. Union and Confederate figures could also be used as Francs Tireurs with a huge variety of uniforms. A little goes a long way |
