Hi Glen. Dependswhat you want the Hypaspists to be. They could fight as an elite phalanx (AMA01-AMA04 but with a different paint job), or they could operate in more open formation - perhaps more like Thureophoroi (AMA09, or perhaps using open order hoplites AGR08a). Altera Restat |
Standard User Posts: 2 Mondrian 29th Sep 2022 09:13:34 I have currently used the Thureophoroi as Hypaspists even though the thureos wouldn't be adopted for another 50 or so years after Alexander's campaigns One of my items on my painting list is to switch to using AGR01a - Hoplites with spears attacking - so that they have the more correct aspis shield (based on the usual interpretation of the Alexander Sarcophagus' illustrations as hypaspists) and look different from the AGR01 and AGR08 that I have used for hoplites. |
I am considering using AIT02, Italian hoplites, as they are wearing the side feathers on their helmets. The body armour msy not be correct, but they will look sufficiently different from the rest of the Macedonians to suit my needs. A little goes a long way |

That would work. I will stick with the helmet feather variety. A little goes a long way |
