TOPIC: The Army of the Potomac |
They are all Baccus but 6 Brigades of Infantry by Rapier. |
The river fording base is very innovative. That whole army looks superb. A little goes a long way |

Hope this is enough! |

As will I. An excellent piece of modelling. At some point I will need to model William III crossing the Boyne. A little goes a long way |
Standard User Posts: 45 Berggeit 1st Jun 2023 10:58:15 Without bias, Dourpuritan, I like that idea (didn't knew about that battle until two days ago, thoughts). I myself was thinking about having Batavian horsemen crossing a river. |
The League of Augsburg did some lovely vignettes of crossing the Boyne which could be used for inspiration. |
As Whirlwind says... the inspiration (going full circle) was DIRECTLY from the pic above... saw it many years ago and always thought it would be useful to do units fording a river with spare or broken minis. So it was stored in the back of my mind for years... since I had a number of ACW troopers with broken bases in 6mm (a small... very small percentage of the minis sometimes gets bended or broken during Post travels...) and REMEMBERING this excellent piece of modeling I asked Robert (Greg) to do a couple of bases - one Union and one Confederate - to go raiding with the ACW Cavalry (as you know not much use in a BIG Battle as per European Wars... but ask Buford about Gettysburg... as a damn fine exception!). I have always loved THE HORSE SOLDIERS film, and naturally enough have built units of US Cavalry in almost any scale... you name it I have done it. So it was fun reading the Post above because it completed a full circle in my wargaming parcour and all the merit is for The League of Augsburg who were the fathers of the original. Really good inspiration.
