Hi!

I am interested in wargaming the Crimean War; and I was looking at if it would be possible to use some figures from Baccus for this? I know that Irregular minatures does stock quite a comprehensive range, but I would like to see if it would be possible to use Baccus minis for this period.

I have had a few thoughts about what to use for the various armies, but still unsure and I am open to suggestions!

Britian:

The infantry seems quite easy; as from the images that I have seen the majority of British Line Infantry still wore the stovepipe shako, and the Highlander's uniform was largely unchanged from the Napoleonic Wars, and the same for the 95th/60th Riflemen. The same goes for the foot artillery.

Possibly Napoleonic British Hussars and FPW Prussian Dragoons for the light and heavy cavalry, respectively?

Any thoughts for the horse artillery would be appreciated.

France:

Maybe a mix of the FPW and Napoleonic ranges for this? The FPW French Guard Grenadiers would be good, as some could also be painted and used as British Guards.

Piedmont:

The Piedmont Risorgiomento range seems suitable.

Ottoman Empire / Turkiye:

Not very clear regarding this... Colonial Egyptians for the infantry, and Mahadists for the cavalry? Must keep the 3 foot rule in mind.

Russia:

Very tricky....

The FPW Prussian Infantry should work for some, due to the similar spiked helmet / pickelhaube, but from what I can see most of the Russian Infantry wore greatcoats? Maybe Napoleonic Prussian Landwehr or Napoleonic Russian Opolchenie with muskets, as they wear a similar cap and they do appear to have a greatcoat?

For the heavy cavalry, maybe FPW Prussian Dragoons & Cuirassiers, Napoleonic Russian Hussars for the light cavalry, and FPW Prussian Reserve Artillery for the artillery?

Again, any suggestions would be much appreciated! Especially regarding the Russians, Turks and French - but if you think that there is a much better substitute for one of the items mentioned, please let me know!

Thanks for the pics! Very nice minis. What would you recommend to use for the Russians?
