A positive (if slightly boring) update today

2026-02-14 00:00:00

The first thing to say this time round is a massive, ‘Thank You!’ from both of us for all the messages of support we have received.   Whether by email, phone or social media they were all wonderful.  We can’t possibly respond to all of them, so we will have to let his message do all the work.   The most excellent new is that Ben is at home, doing well and will be returning back to school and ‘normality’ after this week’s half-term holiday.   He has informed me that he will definitely be running the Lens participation game at Hammerhead later this month.

It’s fairly obvious that our plans have suffered a degree of disruption, and as we have put our efforts into catching up on mail orders, something has had to give and that was work on new releases, so it’s a pretty boring update this week.   But, let’s stay positive with a magic number update standing at #34040.

As was mentioned earlier, the wonderful Hammerhead show is coming up fast, so please get those collect orders in to us as soon as you can.   Your can place them through the shopping cart or by email or phone.

What inevitably cannot survive contact with reality?

2026-02-06 00:00:00

Yes, the best laid plans.   Our plan for this week was to continue our assault on the order backlog and bring the waiting time on orders down to a few days rather than a few weeks.   It was a good plan.  Sadly, there were other forces at work.  Monday night saw us making a nocturnal visit to Sheffield Children's Hospital as our son was having breathing difficulties.   He was admitted and at the time of writing is still there, although we are hoping that he will be discharged in the next couple of days.

That was January...

2026-01-30 00:00:00

January is always a funny month for us here at Baccus Megacorp Industries HQ.   We start the month working frantically to chip away at the backlog of orders hanging over from the Christmas/New Year Break, while preparing for the start of the show season, while also trying to get new range released to start the New Year on the front foot.  How’s this all gone in January 2026?  Find out after this week’s order update, currently standing at #33978.

'The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold...

2026-01-24 00:00:00

...And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee

Yes, after a ‘short’ period lasting only a mere three years from the first announcement, I am delighted and, to be honest, relieved to be able to announce the release of our 6mm range of Assyrian warriors.   But first, this week’s order number that stands at #33932.

The best laid plans and all that…

2026-01-17 00:00:00

…but more of that a little later.   The first thing for today is that all-important order number, which this week has reached #33885.

If all had gone to plan this week, I should now be announcing the release of our first new range of figures for 2026.  However, Andrew the mould maker has not been able to get in, foiled by a combination of bad weather and a bit of ill health.   As a result, the final two moulds for the range have yet to be pressed.  and as a result of that, the Big Reveal will have to wait until next week.

However, in response to requests received, I can list what will be in the range so plans can be made and lists compiled. So here in all their glory are the warriors of Assyria.

Back to work for Baccus

2026-01-10 00:00:00

Welcome to the first Baccus post of 2026!   We’ve dived straight into things with the casting goblins working their hangovers off with some healthy ladling activity.  Sadly, the inclement weather in our part of the world forced one of the team to remain in his hovel, so we weren’t quite at full strength for the whole week.  As a result the first magic number of the year is #33751.

Goblins on holiday

2025-12-20 00:00:00

As I walked into the casting room as I was met with the usual melange of fetid odours that pervaded that benighted chamber of despair.  It was a combination of the foul scent of overheated metal, a whiff of overworked casting goblin and the stench of the loss of all hope and ambition.

‘Good to see you Boss!’ shouted the head goblin as he shambled over to me, ‘And all the best wishes for the Season’.

 ‘Enough of that you buffoon!’ I replied, ‘What of this week’s order number?;

‘We got to number #33662.   ‘Did the team do good?

2025-12-05 00:00:00

...and don’t we all know it!   Here at Baccus, we know that the Big Day is nearing when we prepare for the final show of the year – Recon, but more of that later.  For the moment, it’s magic order number time, which this week stands at #33550.
