Standard User Posts: 15 diadochi 3rd Oct 2023 08:03:27 Can anyone tell me what is the difference between APE12 Persian/Median cavalry and APE20 Persian cavalry? |
Administrator Posts: 897 peter 3rd Oct 2023 10:34:48 APE12 carry shields, APE20 do not. I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |
Standard User Posts: 15 diadochi 3rd Oct 2023 01:19:06 Thanks, Peter, now I know which of them to order. |
Standard User Posts: 186 David Kay 4th Oct 2023 07:37:21 Er, unless the moulds have changed in the past few months both are unshielded (well certainly the figures I have). APE12 are armed with bow and spear APE20 are armed with just spear |
Administrator Posts: 897 peter 5th Oct 2023 09:03:10 I really do need to update the photos for this range. These figures are my original sculpt, and I am really happy with my above reply. Just to clarify: APE12 - Spear, Bow, Shield APE20: Spear

Standard User Posts: 186 David Kay 12th Oct 2023 09:14:51 That's odd Peter, as I have double checked and none of the APE12 figures (including those in the photograph below) I've received over the years have an obvious shield on them. Have I missed something? |
Standard User Posts: 15 diadochi 14th Oct 2023 09:39:34 As far as I am aware Persian cavalry never carried a shield and by the end of the Achaemenid period they had dropped the bow except in the eastern satrapies where they carried both javelin/spears and bows. I had hoped that APE12 would be spear and bow armed to represent Bactrian cavalry. I thought that APE21 Colonist cavalry were the only miniatures to carry a shield slung on their backs? |
My APE12 don't have shields, just a spear and a bow case. Excellent for Median and Bactrian cavalry. Altera Restat |
