TOPIC: Latin and/or Alae Peltasts for Punic Wars |
Standard User Posts: 208 Nick the Lemming 14th Dec 2018 12:13:51 Ah right. I just got a copy, so I can have a good look at that later tonight. Yeah, AIT01 in formed ranks does sound like a better fit then. |
Standard User Posts: 66 frederick_the_green 14th Dec 2018 12:28:27 Continuing this discussion if I can. I intend (and ranks means loose line for some of these troop types) Heavy Infantry in 4 ranks of 6 (Romans and spear/pike) Medium in 3 ranks of 6 (Gallic Warbands, Campainians, Celts, Iberian who are not spear) Light in 2 ranks of 6 Skirmishers in a 'cloud' of 12 Cavalry, something similiar in 8/10/12 Any thoughts regarding this?, I want it apparent from the start how heavy the troop type are.

Sounds like a good plan and maximises the mass quality of 6mm figures. A little goes a long way |
Standard User Posts: 208 Nick the Lemming 14th Dec 2018 07:29:36 I'm going for a cheaper approach, with much fewer fgures per base, as follows:
Skirmish troops: 6 figures, dispersed Light Inf: 8 figures, somewhat dispersed. Warband / Charging Celts: 12 figures, dispersed. All other formed troops (HW, Spear, Pike, etc): 12 figures, in orderly ranks. Light Cav: 4 figures, dispersed. Medium Cav: 6 figures, mostly ordered. Heavy Cav: 8 figures, mostly ordered. Elephants: 1 elephant, 3 skimishing figures. Command bases: 2-3 figures for lieutenants, 3-4 for generals (smaller round bases for Ls, bigger round bases for Gs).
If I get around to having artillery at any point, I'm going to use 1 weapon and several crew per base. |
Standard User Posts: 66 frederick_the_green 17th Dec 2018 01:17:56 I will be going with 8 figures per base, I tried 12, but it does not look so good, base is a bit busy. Excue the poor photography!

Standard User Posts: 3 patriot101 9th Jul 2019 11:52:02 Thank you for the suggestions. I bought the AoH rules a few months ago after watching the Youtbube episode of Little Wars TV, and I was wondering how to select units to match with the scenarios. This forum has been a great help. I will use this as a guide as I order figures. I have the Over the Alps scenario supplement, and will match up figures to play several of the battles listed there. |
