They look really nice. I would suggest that you carefully paint the edge of your flags with blue & red paint to remove the white edge. It does add to the flag - honest. If you're like me, it can also hide misaligned paper flags! ;-) If you're interested in the result, take a look at the "Colin the wargamer" blog. Cheers Colin |

One thing I wished I'd done was to differentiate the artillery a little by using the number of crew. So lighter pieces/batteries get 3 crew (eg horse artillery), average use 4 crew and the 12 lbers give them five crew. That way you can see at a glance whch is heavy and which is light. |

I don't see anyone complaining when that isn't represented 1:1. Why get hung up on this one detail when so much else is abstracted? The main value I could see on something like for that for modelling is to further differentiate the combatants. Eg If French are X then make their opponents Y.

Cavalry is hard to paint at any scale, but these guys are ok. I think I'm going to change it up and paint some Prussian infantry next. |

![]() Standard User Posts: 14 My 6mm Napoleonicsunder_score 29th May 2022 08:22:45 Got covid and haven't done much painting the past couple weeks, but I was able to finish up my first Prussian infantry unit today.
Something I hadn't even considered when I decided to work on Jena is that the Prussian and French infantry have pretty similar uniforms. I went with a slightly darker blue for the Prussian's jackets, and a khaki rather than white for the trousers, and I think they're pretty easily distinguished on the battlefield. And if not, accidently firing into the wrong regiment is hardly unheard of in the Napoleonic era. |
Looking suitably sombre in that particular Prussian way. A little goes a long way |
