Order update

We've been hacking at the order pile and we have got all the orders up to number 15296 out and on their way.   I say ,'all', but there are a few odd orders prior to this number which didn't get out this week, so don't panic if you think we've passed you by!

Important announcement - please read!

I’m sorry, but this is a more sober announcement than usual. The fallout from the Covid outbreak in the UK is very serious indeed. At Baccus we have striven to keep staff and their families as safe as we can, and this has been at the expense of our ability to produce. The latest infection and hospitalization numbers are worrying to say the least. As a result, We will be further reducing staff numbers and hours until the current trends reverse

2020 – A Year that will live in Infamy…

I must admit that this is one of the strangest and hardest of these pieces that I have had to put together.   The format of the end of year Baccus posts is usually very formulaic; I review the bleeding obvious in terms of the bits and pieces we have actually released over the last 12 months, gloss over the stuff that we didn't get out and then proceed to weave a positive dream about the magnificent year ahead of such Goveian proportions that it would cause a government minister to blush in shame in terms of its positive distortion of reality.    This year has been…different…

Yes, it is ‘that’ time of year again…

I have prised the ladles out of the hands of the casting team and told them to go home for a well-earned and well-deserved Christmas break.    It has been a hard year for everyone in lots of ways, and our best wishes go out to all for the festive season.   I think that we are all going to make the best of Christmas this year, and even one of our soon-to-be-released Panthers is joining in as it dons suitable seasonal garb.

For all our European Customers

I think that my personal views on the wisdom of the Brexit project are well known, but like it or not, it has happened, and things will change from January 1st.   As yet, the sharp intellects negotiating on our behalf have yet to actually distinguish their buttocks from their arm joints and no-one has a clue as to what the situation will be vis a vis tariffs, deals, no deals or the price of fish.

Order updates

The little workshop elves are working frantically to get the goodies out to deserving boys and girls all over the world, and will be doing so right up until Christmas Eve.   I’ve had a lot of requests to start giving the order number updates, but it’s been tricky, because for very good reasons, we have had three separate streams running side by side, all at different stages.  These have now all been brought together.

Weekly update

It's the time in the cycle where lots of you are getting in touch about orders, either awaiting casting or in the post.   To address the latter first, postal services around the world are struggling with both Covid issues and the normal seasonal increase in activity.  A few months ago, an order might have taken two weeks to the get to an address in the US for example.  At the moment, that might be two months.   Parcels ARE getting through, they are just taking longer, so please don't panic.

New releases - well, sort of new releases...

Among the many problems we face under current circumstances is what to do about new releases.  Let's face it, we can't unveil a shiny new range while at the same time, saying that it's not available to order.   We do have plans in place to address this in the new year, but for the moment we are contenting ourselves with  just trickling bits and pieces out.

Something a little different...

Yes, we may be working our collective fingers to the bone getting the orders cast and sent out as quickly as we can, but that isn't stopping us developing new product at an equally frenetic rate, and expanding our horizons beyond our traditional subjects.    We will keep you posted on developments, but expect 2021 to be a year packed with some brilliant models and ranges from Baccus.

During lockdown and the cart closure we are still developing new lines and products.   It’s obvious that current working conditions are working against us in terms of getting new releases out there and available, but it doesn’t stop us trying!
