Twas the day before the Christmas decorations went up and I had the chance to sneak a quick battle in. It was a bit of a kitchen sink affair in terms of the troops involved but they did provide some joy and challenges, if not peace! On the far right, some Persians wait for the Greeks from Mantinea to advance up on to the high ground. Whilst in the bottom right, the Sarmatians charge after some evading Arab mercenaries. Happy Christmas!

Another great set up and wonderfully detailed battle report. Have you ever considered filming and uploading a video of one of your battle reports?? Is there a way to do that on the Baccus site?

If you look on my website (veryverylittlewars.wordpress) you'll find some battle reports which take the form of Powerpoint slideshows which show the course of the battle both in summary and move-by-move levels. There are about as close to any form of video that I can do at present.

Even at 6mm there comes a limit to how many figures you can fit on the battlefield as I found out when I decided to pit all my Greeks against all my Romans. The ambition was to get 2,600 little guys on the table. Hoever, I didn't quite get to that point.....

After what seems an age, another battle with a new army! The Thracians made their first appearance taking on the Athenians. In the photo, the Thracians descend from the high ground and woods on the right with some of their cavalry close enough for skirmishing. The Athenian hoplite line has just cleared an area of boggy ground whilst their lighter foot advance through the heath (nearest to camera). Further details of the battle are available on my website.

Would it be possible to also plague us with links in red so that when you click on them you are taken straight there. I also have problems with the convoluted ways of modern technology.

Thanks very much for that. I find this really interesting as I would like to give the early Imperial Romans in Britain a go. Hoping matched armies will appear before I get too enthusiastic and buy the stuff at full whack.

Lots of sand in this battle although it is not too obvious in this photograph! Herod was defending against two invading Persian satraps. One of the satrap's cavalry are advancing from the right to face Herod's cavalry who are assisted by some Emiseni allies. Beyond Herod's camp his infantry advance across some open ground. Reports available on my website (as per the link a couple of posts back).

Another great read. Superb looking setup - especially the desert on the left hand side of the board. Must have been a kick playing it through.
