My struggling Armenians (advancing from the left) with their dubious set of allies took on one of my Persian satraps. The Satrap's cavalry are nearest to camera and in melee with the enemy cavalry, whilst the satrapal infantry hold a line further to the right. |

Nearest to camera are the Commagene with their archers crossing the hill and their phalangites further to the right. Beyond these are a line of Parthian cataphracts and then Emiseni in the distance. The main force of the Trinovante warbands advance from the left between the woods.. |

Nearest to camera, the Thessalian cavalry support their close order infantry in trying to turn Herod's right flank. In the wood, more of Herod's infantry wait to pounce and in the distance the red wave of Spartan hoplites rolls forward.Battle report on my site for those with the time. |

In the photograph the first group have made it across and are ready to join their colleagues in taking on the WiB (Warriors in Black). ![]() Standard User Posts: 255 Little battles with AncientsDavid Kay 8th Sep 2022 08:04:22 The Persians take to the dining room table again, but a different satrapy this time and they were facing Greeks. The Greek camp is in the right foreground with the hoplites from Sicyon and Philius on the slopes in front of it. On the left the satrap's allies - the Dadicae and Chalybians - advance with the satrap's own troops beyond them. In the photograph the Armenian infantry are assaulting the town from the left whilst the Thebans in yellow cross the river to come to the citizens' rescue. In the photo the cavalry of the Emiseni skirmish with some hoplites from the Argolis Federation whilst their infantry hold the hill. In the distance the armies of Corinth and Commagene close on each other. Link to the battle report below. https://veryverylittlewars.wordpress.com/2022/10/20/battle-109-october-2022/ |
