With nearly 900 little figures on the battlefield, this was my largest battle of the year (so far). On the left of the photograph, Tigranes the Lesser of Armenia, rides forward with his infantry milling around him. Further off, between the woods, his Parthian overlords also advance. Facing them, on the right, are some Persians with their own Armenian king amongst their line up.

A smaller battle this time as one of my Greek states took on a Persian satrapy. In the photograph, the Persians advance from the left with their cavalry about to turn the Greek left flank. On the right, the line of Theban hoplites advances, with their commander on the far distance and about to descend into the valley, so he can't see the threat from the Persian cavalry.....

Fantastic setup, scenery and photography in this battle report, David. I enjoyed Nearchus' and Lydiadas' respective charges.

Keep 'em coming.

No real history associated with this battle! just an excuse to field a mix of armies. In the photo, some Saka horse archers look down on one flank of the opposing Sarmatian cavalry whilst the cavalry of their Persian overlord closes in on the other flank. In the distance, troops from the other armies involved advance towards each other.

Great to hear you figured out the photo posting! Using the media library to get a URL and then pasting it into the image information is a handy trick. Feel free to share more photos anytime,

Back after a short break, but with a bigger battlefield! First up were my three Celtic British tribes taking on some invading Romans. In the photograph, three of the Trinovante warbands and one from the Dumnonii tribe advance from the lower right. Facing them is Legio XX Valeria and some Roman auxiliaries apparently guarding a wood for some reason. Other Roman legions are on the flanks and their marching camp is just in the top of the photograph.

"Don't panic King Tigranes, the Thracians are coming". And indeed they were. In the photograph, they swarm in from the left as the Armenian army rushes to form a line in front of the town. But did Tigranes panic or just shoot the messenger?

An enlarged re-fight of a previous battle between my Persians and a Greek alliance.

In the photograph, Xerxes is in his chariot on the hill on the left surveying his array of sparabara infantry. The Greeks advance from the right with the Spartans (in red) nearest the camera and the Athenians (in blue) just beyond them. In the far distance the Persian cavalry are facing up to their Thessalian opponents.

In my final solo battle for 2024, a different grouping of Greek states took on the Near Eastern armies of Herod of Judea and Antiochos III of Commagene. In the photograph the citizens of the Achaean League advance nearest the camera, with the Thebans beyond them. Facing the Achaeans are Herod's Sebastenoi with Antiochos and his troops a bit further along on the hill on the right opposite the Thebans.

My first 6mm battle of 2025 featured some of my Romans against the recently completed army of the Persian satrapy of Seasidearia. In the photograph the Persian cavalry have just crossed the river and their infantry are now starting to paddle through the deeper fords beyond them. Advancing from the right, the Roman legate appears to have got his legionary cohorts a bit separated and in the far distance the Roman cavalry are off doing something interesting.
