'Tis the season to be Jolly

It’s that Most Wonderful Time of the Year – so they say anyway. I wouldn’t be a business owner working in a Victorian era workshop with no heating if I didn’t have a little bit of ‘Humbug!’ in me. Let’s start off with tidings of Comfort and Joy and all that by giving the magic order number as #23083. As ever, some of you with orders after this number will get an expected surprise, and some prior to this will have to wait a little longer. Many apologies to those who will have to wait until the New Year for us to send their orders off. We really have worked as quickly as we can, but full completion of every order proved to be too much this time around.

Orders, delays and postal strikes.
Another week, another set of orders, another order number completed. This week, we have reached order number #22889. Surprisingly enough, and against all the odds, we are actually currently reducing the gap between receipt of an order and despatch. However, the usual seasonal demand is catching up and delivery times are being stretched which is sadly beyond our control. Also beyond our control is the current round of UK postal strikes, which are creating backlogs and delays in orders arriving. Please bear with us – orders to UK destinations are very likely to be delayed by several days, and as we use first class post we cannot provide details or tracking numbers. What I can say is that to date, they are all getting through eventually.

Yes, we’re back after a couple of weeks absence. Judging by some recent emails it is obvious that some of you are experiencing Magic Number Withdrawal Trauma. Given the seriousness of this condition it is therefore incumbent on me to provide partial relief by letting you all know that we have reached order number #22758. However, we have a lot of orders cast and yet to be processed, so if you have an order in the system expect some good news in the next few days.

I’d like to start off today’s update with a big Thank You to all the members of the Wargames Association of Reading for their mammoth effort in staging the Warfare show last weekend. The new venue for the show was excellent, but it was obvious to all that it was a very labour intensive to run and the hosts did a wonderful job.
Which brings us to this week’s order number, which is….#22550. The usual proviso applies in that some numbers prior to this will be going out next week, and a few in advance will actually be on their way

Okay, so I had a week off from doing updates. ‘Slacker’, said the emails, ‘Sluggard’, ‘Sloth’, ‘Negligent’, Work-shy’, and even ‘Otiose’ were just some of the colourful adjectives aimed with exquisite precision. All damning judgements. I really cannot afford to miss this week. Let’s start with this week’s order number, which is #22432.

Baccus - it gives you wings....
It’s Friday, so it’s the Baccus weekly update. I’ll start today with the traditional announcement of the Magic Order number. This week it is #22241. I’ll add the usual rider that some orders prior to this number will not be going out until next week for a while host of mysterious and arcane reasons known only to a small circle of the Enlightened…
No new releases this week, but as promised, the is a preview/teaser photo of the first of the resculpted 17th/18th century Poles.

Carrying on the theme...
And yet more Russian artillery… But before we head on to this week’s releases, let’s have a look at this week’s order number, which is #22122.
This week, we are rounding out the Russian field artillery with three larger calibre pieces.

New WW2 Russian Field guns
Once more Friday has come around, so it’s time for the weekly Baccus updates. As usual, we start with the lucky order number, which this week is #22034.
The news regarding card payments is improving, as they seem to be functioning for all but those orders coming from the USA. If you are having difficulties with the system, please do get in touch. The tech-chap has now moved on to tapping on various bits of tubing and piping with a screwdriver and humming tunelessly. I am told that this is a sign of progress.

More WW2 Russians and a couple of updates
The first business of the day is this week’s Magic Number - #21965. As usual we do have a couple of orders prior to this that didn’t quite make the cut, so don’t panic if you have an earlier number and no notification of dispatch. It will all be corrected next week.
Before we get on to this week’s new releases, it’s time for an update on card payments on the Baccus site. We can now accept all UK based card payments with no problems. However, there still seems to be an issue with overseas payments via this method. The tech chap has resorted to poking a sharpened stick into the site gubbins, stirring it around a bit and whistling tunelessly through his teeth. I am told that will soon sort things, and I will give more updates as they come through. In the meantime, if anyone outside of the UK is having difficulties and does not have access to a Paypal account, please email us at and we will try and get things moving for you.

It's time to open the Ostfront!
It’s back to new releases this week, but before we get into this, there are some ‘housekeeping’ issues to deal with. Firstly, this week we have reached order number #21900.
We are currently having some problems with the Baccus shopping cart, which means that some of you trying to place orders using a credit or debit card have not been able to complete the transaction. Work is going on behind the scenes to get this fixed, so please bear with us. The cart is working perfectly if you use Paypal, and for the moment we would suggest that you use that means of payment if possible. Alternatively we can take card orders over the phone during office hours. I will post an update as soon as we get back to normal.
With that out of the way, it’s time for this week’s new releases.
